How Harper & Olivia Started

We met on an ordinary morning in 2007, over brunch at Sarabeth's on the Upper West Side. The place was packed, and we ended up at tables next to each other by the window. One comment about the coffee turned into a conversation, and somehow, that conversation turned to clothes.

We'd both spent years around fashion, and we kept coming back to the same frustration: almost everything beautiful was being made for women half our age. Everything else felt like an afterthought. Shapeless, cheap, or simply forgettable. We'd each spent years altering, hunting, and settling for pieces that never quite felt right.

That morning turned into a friendship. And the friendship kept circling the same idea: somebody should make beautiful clothes for the rest of us. Pieces that feel as good as they look. That flatter without squeezing. That you reach for again and again, season after season.

For three years we talked about it. In 2010, we finally stopped talking and started.

Harper & Olivia is what came of it. Timeless, comfortable clothing for women who know exactly who they are, chosen the way we'd choose it for ourselves. Quality first, always. No chasing trends. No uncomfortable fits. Just clothes made to be worn, and loved, for years.
